Cathy Werthan

President, CPA

As Founder and President of CPA Consulting Group, Cathy Werthan brings more than 30 years of experience in the accounting field to her role and offers a blend of industry experience, technical know-how and innovation.

Ms. Werthan's accounting career began at the tender age of 17 during stints in a variety of accounting roles at firms throughout the Southeastern U.S, including Kraft CPAs. She applied her extensive public accounting and management experience in a leadership role in two accounting firms where she was also a partner: Gaines & McCormack, and Jacobs, Cohen & McCormack.

In addition to traditional accounting, auditing, tax and consulting, Ms. Werthan has extensive experience in the area of employee benefits, and has expanded the scope of her firm's services to include retirement plan design and administration. She has published many articles on employee benefits issues and has been a featured presenter at educational seminars covering a wide range of tax, accounting and employee benefit topics. In addition to providing expert assistance in divorce mediation cases, she has used her in-depth knowledge of accounting and benefit issues to provide expert support to attorneys in a wide range of legal cases.

Though Ms. Werthan is respected as a seasoned accounting and benefits expert, she may be best known for her skill in managing the financial affairs of artists in every genre. Her book Financial Management of Musicians is highly-regarded among industry insiders. She has been a frequent guest on Mind Your Own Music Business, a local television show, and has served as the featured speaker at a variety of organizations in the music industry.

Ms. Werthan is a graduate of Belmont University. She was a recipient of the State of Tennessee's Outstanding Achievement Award presented by Governor Don Sundquist and was a finalist for the "Business Woman of the Year" award presented by the National Association of Woman Business Owners. She is a member of a variety of professional organizations and served as past president of the Nashville Chapter of American Woman's Society of CPAS.

Ms. Werthan is the mother of two young adults. In her spare time, she enjoys bicycling (and often participates in the Jack and Back fundraising event for Multiple Sclerosis) and traveling with her husband, Tony.
