For the past few weeks, Facebook has added new features that will lead to the introduction of Timeline. The purpose of Timeline is to have a full view of a user’s Facebook life from the day of activation to today and a better way to organize the things we share. Facebook users are able to see posts and information that have been sitting in the back shelves of a library.
With any development on social media websites, we always tend to question the privacy setting of our information. Here is an article about what to expect from this new Facebook:
“I activated my account back in 2006 when it was still fairly new. The number of times I visited it that year is approximately the same amount of times I visit it in a week today. I witnessed the many experiments that went from simplicity to a bunch of clutter-ness of useless ‘gift’ icons from friends and button pins. Now that Facebook is so incorporated into our daily and social life, it is difficult to turn the other way and delete Facebook out of our life. I honestly cannot recall the many changes Facebook have made because my sole purpose was to stay connected with my friends. That feature has not change, and if that does, then what will be the purpose of Facebook?” http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/story/2011-09-26/10-things-to-know-about-new-facebook/50553854/1.
After going through the preview of what Timeline will look like, I think, for a lack of better word or description, Timeline is cool--very cool. See for yourself at http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline.
Currently, we all have the same Facebook layout. It lacks individuality. I think Timeline will put life and real soul into the pages and create individuality. It will take some time to get used to, but give it a chance before abandoning it. (Contributed by Trang Pham.)
